Loyal High School student Olivia Piller was recognized as the Wisconsin state winner of the SIFMA Foundation’s Fall 2020 InvestWrite competition with her essay on how challenges can create opportunities in the global economy and in life.

The InvestWrite national essay competition bridges classroom learning in math, social studies, and language arts with the practical research and knowledge required for saving, investing and long-term planning.

Piller was introduced to the InvestWrite competition through her participation in the Draper Hills Financial Literacy Program, which serves students in the School District of Loyal. This program is funded by the Draper Hills Financial Literacy Endowment, a fund of the Eau Claire Community Foundation.

Founded by Dr. Eldon Hill, a native of Loyal who spent many years as a doctor in Eau Claire, the vision of the Draper Hills Financial Literacy Program is to “equip, encourage, and empower Loyal students to become financially free.”

Olivia Piller and her teacher, Jessica Zarnke, were honored by EconomicsWisconsin and the SIFMA Foundation during a hybrid presentation on April 12, 2021.
