New Acorn Fund Will Grow to Support Pollinators and Clean Water Posted on February 15, 2023 by Eau Claire Community Foundation Brenna Lindsey-Schrupp and her father, Tom Lindsey A new Acorn Fund at ECCF will grow to support environmental organizations and their related programs, especially those that protect clean water and support pollinators. Fund creator Brenna Lindsey-Schrupp explained that she and her husband Matt established the Tom Lindsey Conservation Fund in honor of her dad because he’s “the best conservationist I know…We wanted to do something special for him to say ‘thank you’ for all that he has done.” Among many other things, Tom has helped Brenna and Matt replace their traditional grass lawn with a native plant pollinator garden and supply's them with their annual Christmas tree, grown himself using sustainable forestry practices. Acorn Funds like this one can be established for as little as $500, then have five years to reach the minimum balance for granting; this amount depends on the type of Fund being created. For a Field of Interest Fund like the Tom Lindsey Conservation Fund, the minimum balance for granting is $10,000. Just as an acorn grows into a large and beautiful oak tree, this Fund will grow into a permanent source of support for the nonprofits that work so hard to protect our environment. It will create a legacy that protects the Earth while honoring a truly extraordinary man.
