The Eau Claire Community Foundation and United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley announced $75,000 in grants to nine local nonprofits for the first week of granting from the Quick Response Community Fund.

The Eau Claire Community Foundation and United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley established the Quick Response Community Fund to rapidly deploy financial resources to Eau Claire area nonprofits that serve community members disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak and its economic consequences.

Funds will be granted on a rolling basis as fundraising continues throughout the crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and adapt to evolving needs.

Donations from community members are encouraged. ECCF will cover administrative fees, so 100% of donations will support local nonprofits.

This week’s grantees are:

Catholic Charities
To expand emergency shelter space and support the client-aid program.

Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association
To provide remote communication between staff and clients as well as rental assistance for people in need.

Feed My People Food Bank
To support Crisis Food Outreach for Eau Claire Area School District, Meals on Wheels, and new Pop-up pantries.

Hope Gospel Mission
To support operations expenses normally met by revenue from re-use stores now closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

L.E. Phillips Senior Center
To support the Home Connection program, which provides social connections via phone and assists with errands for homebound individuals.

L.E. Phillips Career Development Center
To support operations funding that can’t be met because of reduced capacity due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Lutheran Social Services
To address an increased need for services at Positive Avenues, a daytime resource center open to those experiencing mental health concerns or homelessness.

The Community Table
To purchase additional supplies for take-out meals and protection for volunteers, plus operations funding to compensate for lost revenue.

Trinity Equestrian Center
To implement Telehealth in order to support clients struggling with mental health or social disorders despite new social distancing requirements.

Applications not funded this week will be re-considered next week. New applications will continue to be accepted; interested organizations can apply online at the Eau Claire Community Foundation website. Additional grants will be distributed weekly as long as donations to the Quick Response Community Fund permit.
