Leonard Gibbs was a Professor of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and dedicated to evidence-based practices in the helping professions. He died in 2008, and this Fund was established at the Eau Claire Community Foundation in his honor to support an annual international award through the Campbell Collaboration.

The Campbell Collaboration encourages the production of rigorous, systematic reviews influencing policy and practice in the helping professions. The name of the award is "The Leonard E. Gibbs Award for Outstanding Contribution to Evidence-Informed Practice." The Fund will also support the Leonard E. Gibbs Scientific Reasoning Scholarship through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, encouraging excellence in academic training in the area of evidence-informed practices in social work.
