In 2014, the Goff family donated a piece of real estate to the Eau Claire Community Foundation so that the proceeds from its sale could become the Goff Family Fund, an unrestricted fund intended to meet the community’s most pressing needs. Gifts to this fund will support a diverse array of local nonprofits.

In establishing this fund, longtime Chippewa Valley resident Phyllis Goff has continued her and her husband John’s legacy of contributing to the community. Before retiring in 1989, Phyllis had spent more than twenty years working at the University of Eau Claire; in her last position there, she was a professional assistant for the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. John wore many hats during his long and diverse career. After starting out as a bakery worker, he also became a farmer, a mechanic, and a heavy equipment operator.

Married in 1946, the Goffs had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary shortly before John passed away at the age of 90. In creating the Goff Family Fund, Phyllis has ensured that his memory will live on.
