Eldon and Josephine Hill Scholarship Fund This Fund was established in memory of both Eldon and Josephine Hill, past residents of Spring Valley, and it supports the post-secondary educations of Spring Valley graduates by awarding two $12,000 scholarships and two $5000 scholarships. Eldon Fred Hill grew up during the Great Depression in the city of Loyal, WI. After Eldon completed his undergraduate studies and pharmacy training, Eldon served in the Navy before returning to complete his internship as a general practitioner in St. Paul, where he met his future wife, Josephine (Joey) Dedolph. In 1949, Eldon and Joey settled in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, where Eldon established his General Practice. During this time, their next five children were born, and Eldon cherished the memories of their small, tight-knit rural community. From Spring Valley, Eldon and Joey moved to Salt Lake City, eventually settling in Eau Claire, WI, where Eldon continued his medical practice until retirement. He passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, at the age of 102. The Hill family continues to support Eldon’s belief that everyone should have the opportunity to further their education. Eldon’s legacy has now established the Eldon and Josephine Hill Scholarship Fund, endowed for Spring Valley. The Fund will award annually two $5,000 and two $12,000 scholarships to students who have maximized their talents in their high school years. Grade point is not the determining factor in making this decision: leadership, academic achievement, and extracurricular involvement are integral to receiving this scholarship. The Eldon and Josephine Hill Scholarship Fund will help make higher education an attainable goal for future generations of Spring Valley students.
