About the Fund

Eau Claire Police Department Special Units Fund (K-9 Fund)

Since the inception of the K-9 Unit in 1990, the use of a dog has been an important asset to the Eau Claire Police Department.  K-9 dogs assist officers with dangerous tasks and work with the Department’s Tactical Response Team on high-risk deployment incidents.

The K-9 lives with an Officer who serves as his handler, allowing them to work and train together.  They also do community presentations.

The cost of a K-9 dog, including the specialty vehicle and equipment needed to support the dog, can be quite expensive.  Therefore, the ECPD K9 Fund was established in 2006 to support the K-9 Unit and other special unit needs.

In 2011, this fund (then called the Eau Claire Police Department Special Units Fund) distributed a grant of over $7,000 to help offset the cost of the Duke, the K-9 dog.

You can donate to the ECPD K9 Fund via the button on this page, or mail a check to the Eau Claire Community Foundation at 306 S. Barstow St. Suite 104, Eau Claire, WI  54701.  Please make checks payable to ECCF and put in the memo:  K9.
