Million dollar match announced to support a new Day Resource Center in Eau Claire! Posted on November 14, 2025 by Eau Claire Community Foundation C&M Home Builders announced a $250,000 donation to the Western Dairyland Economic Opportunity Council (WDEOC) capital campaign to build a new Day Resource Center in downtown Eau Claire, expanding critical services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. For 20 years, C&M Home Builders has lived its “Building Community” ethos across the Chippewa Valley, and this investment underscores that commitment. WDEOC is leading the initiative to establish the new facility, working closely with Hope Gospel Mission, the City of Eau Claire, local housing groups, and community members. They established the One Better Way Fund at the Eau Claire Community Foundation, with a goal of raising $6.4 million to complete renovations and ensure long-term sustainability for the center’s programs and services. Other donors have added to this generous gift to create a million dollar match for the Day Resource Center campaign! Up to $1,000,000 in donations will be matched through Dec. 31, 2025. Dewey St., Suite 200 Eau Claire, WI 54701 MORE ABOUT THE DAY RESOURCE CENTER The new Day Resource Center will offer a safe, welcoming space where community members can access essential services, case management, and connections to housing, healthcare, and employment resources. The center will provide year-round daytime shelter in a modern facility. Bathrooms, showers, storage areas, and congregate meeting spaces will be available to anyone in need. These services will replace and expand upon those offered by the current Community Haven House at 416 Washington Street, which does not have funding beyond 2025. The building will house multiple programs operated by WDEOC: Housing First, Rapid Rehousing, Homeless Prevention, Homeless Assistance Program for Youth, Family Shelters, Housing Stability, and Fresh Start. These programs will move from their current location at 418 Wisconsin Street. Additional space will be available to local businesses and community organizations serving the homeless community. The goal is to provide immediate relief, then connect clients with the resources they need to succeed. This transformative project is designed to address the growing need for comprehensive and well-connected support services in Eau Claire and the surrounding region. “For 20 years, our craft has been building homes, and our purpose has been building community,” said Cody Filipczak, co-founder of C&M Home Builders. “Every strong community depends on places where people can get help, feel welcome, and take the next step. Partnering with Western Dairyland on the Day Resource Center is a natural extension of that promise, and we’re honored to support their work in downtown Eau Claire.” “This generous gift from C&M Home Builders brings us significantly closer to realizing our vision for the Day Resource Center,” said Western Dairyland CEO Anna Cardarella. “We are deeply grateful for their leadership and commitment to addressing homelessness in our community. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate Eau Claire.” Community members and organizations can learn more by visiting onebetterway.org
