Eau Claire's Phoenix Park lights up the community thanks to the Rotary Club of Eau Claire and Downtown Eau Claire Inc.'s Phoenix Park Bridge Lighting Project.

Modeled after the successful Big Four Bridge lighting project in Louisville, Kentucky, the lighting adds a dramatic focal point that enhances other developments and activities in the Phoenix Park area. The diffused lighting is aimed directly at the bridge's architectural steel elements and can be programmed with various color combinations to create special light shows.

Numerous sponsors and vendors have partnered to bring this world class project to our community, which is anticipated to become a regional attraction that draws people to the Phoenix Park area.

The project is also supported by students in UW-Eau Claire's Architectural Lighting Program, who work with lighting and control panel design; in the process, they receive real-world experience not otherwise available in the Chippewa Valley.

However, more community support is needed to continue this project. Donations can be made via this website, and the funds raised will be used to purchase:

    • 300-500 high efficiency, long life LED black lighting units with multi-colored bulbs
    • Circuitry, an electric usage meter, and a keyed activation station
    • Web based password protected software
    • DMX automated, timed control panel and wireless DMX control head end
    • Conduit, brackets and straps
