Jeanne Richie was an elementary school teacher at Eau Claire's Longfellow Elementary School who passed away in 2010. She was instrumental in 2007 in starting the Annual Puddle Jump Walk/Run, held every spring to raise money for after-school programming for Longfellow students.

In her memory, and to honor her commitment to health and fitness, the Jeanne Richie Memorial Puddle Jump Endowment Fund, a Designated Named Fund, was established at the Eau Claire Community Foundation to receive and hold contributions and support grants for programs and projects that benefit students at Longfellow Elementary School.
