Community Foundation Week Posted on October 7, 2019 by SatelliteSix Community-Foundation-Week Image 1 of 1 November 12 – 18, 2020 The Eau Claire Community Foundation will join in a nationwide celebration to recognize the increasingly important role that community foundations play in addressing civic and economic challenges. For more than a century, community foundations have served as a trusted partner and resource whose effect can be seen in the lives of millions. During this time, they come together to share and reflect on the stories of their impact over the past year. “The work of community foundations spans beyond the practice of giving,” said Sue Bornick, Executive Director of ECCF. “We are more determined than ever to bring our community partners together. That’s why we worked with United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley to implement extra granting in support of the nonprofits that serve community members disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.” These “Response & Recovery” grants from ECCF and UWGCV, along with a complementary grant cycle hosted by the Community Foundation of Chippewa County, combined to distribute more than a million dollars to help Chippewa Valley nonprofits address urgent community needs created by the pandemic. In addition, the general Community Fund at ECCF continues to give ongoing support to Eau Claire area nonprofits. In celebration of Community Foundation Week, ECCF is hosting the following educational webinars: Tuesday, November 17 at 9:00 AM - Coffee Talk with ECCF Meet Sue Bornick, Executive Director of the Eau Claire Community Foundation. In many ways, American nonprofits have lived on a roller coaster this year. And yet we know that historically, about one-third of American charitable giving is done in December, with a whopping 12% of all gifts happening in the last three days of the year. The bottom line: year-end matters. And because of the CARES Act, this year brings some added reasons to consider giving charitably before we move into 2021. You’ll get a snapshot of ideas for getting the best bang for your year-end charitable buck. Hosted by ECCF and special guests from Gift Planning Services. Click here to register As we enter the giving season, millions of people from every background will give back to the communities that have supported them. They’ll also ensure that their heartfelt giving—however they choose to give—will have the most impact. That’s why so many of them will choose to give to a community foundation. A gift to your local community foundation is an investment in the future of your community. We like to say that community foundations are “here for good.” At ECCF, we don’t think about the next election or business cycle. We think about the next generation.
